Woodlands Trail
From the parking lot at the corner of Steeles Avenue East and Reesor Road, a trail leads south along the Little Rouge Creek. You can see a mixture of forest and meadow. In some areas, trees have been planted in order to return the area to a more pristine forest environment.
As in other areas of Rouge Park, the trails are not always well marked. It is very easy to follow a path that leads to a dead end, or up a steep hill.
Wildflowers are plentiful. When I visited the area in mid-April, the Bloodroots were blooming. These can be recognized by the 8-10 white petals, with alternating petals slightly narrower than the others. I could also see some Trillium plants, but they weren't flowering yet.
