IntroductionScarborough is the easternmost part of the city of Toronto. Prior to amalgamation, it was the largest of the six cities and boroughs comprising the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto. Scarborough is bounded by Victoria Park Avenue on the west, the town of Markham to the north, the Rouge River to the east, and Lake Ontario to the south. Most of the Lake Ontario shore is at the base of the Scarborough Bluffs, which make access to the lake difficult. Scarborough is primarily suburban in nature, with most people living in single family homes. There's no definite downtown, with most people shopping in shopping malls, "big box" stores, and strip malls. The largest shopping mall is the Scarborough Town Center, at McCowan Road and Highway 401. Among the famous people from Scarborough are Mike Myers and the Barenaked Ladies.
