Saxophones!
Practicing the piece.
On May 30, 2004, 930 saxophone players assembled in Dundas Square to play one song. In doing so, they set a world record for the most saxophone players playing a song!
The Demons arrive!
The event was arranged by the Shuffle Demons in honor of an anniversary tour that they were about the embark on. They made their entrance by winding their way through the throng of saxaphone players, at one point going past right in front of me!
More Saxophone players!
The group went through their song twice. First, they did a practice run through the song. Then, after the arrival of the Shuffle Demons, they did their record setting performance. To set the record, they had to play for at least five minutes.
Saxophone players!
After the record-setting performance, the group was asked to improvise for a minute, for what might be one of the most surreal saxophone moment any of us present ever experienced.
Celebrating the setting of the world record!
Oh yeah, you might be wondering what song was played. In honor of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the song played was the Hockey Night in Canada Theme!
