Bremner Boulevard
Bremner Boulevard is a new street, running through the former railroad lands. On this street, you can find a number of buildings, some old, but most new or substantially refurbished. One of the two old roundhouses was saved from demolition. Part of this roundhouse is occupied by the Steam Whistle Brewery. The rest of the roundhouse will hopefully soon house a railroad museum. It is hoped that a restored CN locotive 6213, now sitting on the Exhibition grounds, may be the star attraction of this museum.
The Air Canada, known to locals as the "Hangar", is home to the Maple Leafs of the NHL, as well as the NBA Raptors. Before substantial renovation, this building was used by Canada Post. Oh yeah, one more thing about this area. This is one of the few places in Toronto where the horizon is not plagued by the presence of a certain tall telecommunications tower. Sure, you can still see it here, but you have to strain your neck upwards. |
