King & Bathurst
The Wheat Sheaf Tavern has been a fixture of Toronto for years, at the intersection of King Street West and Bathurst for more than 150 years!
If you ever need a reason to keep your car at home when you go downtown, just look at this photo of busy downtown traffic on a Sunday afternoon. To be fair, though, there were a number of charity walks on this particular day, and here the traffic was backed up by a walk heading south on Spadina, a couple of blocks ahead.
A block to the south is Victoria Memorial Park, where 20 horses were buried in a cemetery. The horses were ordered killed by a British army captain leaving after the War of 1812 because he thought they would be mistreated by their new owners.
