Koreatown
Also known as "Little Korea", Koreatown came into prominence this summer as the Korean team surprised everyone by playing into the semi-final round in the 2002 World Cup tournament. Traffic came to a halt on Bloor Street West as exuberant crowds celebrated the accomplishments of their favorite team. Other neighborhoods in the city were also the sites of spontaneous street celebrations whenever the teams from Italy, Brazil, and other countries won their games. Many Torontonians living in these neighborhoods, especially those who don't appreciate soccer, got rather tired of all the noise and partying.
