Little Norway
The Toronto Irish Famine Memorial is hard to find, tucked away behind the Canada Malting silos, currently a construction site. The park honors the Irish who fled during the famine of 1847. The 38,000 visitors overwhelmed the town of Toronto, then with a population of only 20,000. The poignant sculptures were created by Rowan Gillespie, who had sculpted a matching set seven years earlier in Dublin, Ireland.
