York University
York University was initially a campus of the University of Toronto, but became a separate institution in the 1960's.
The architectural plans were originally designed for a southern California location, which explains much of the design of the older buildings. Certain locations on the campus could have been quite pleasant in a warmer climate, but in the north can become freezing wind tunnels in the winter. In contrast to the older monolithic concrete buildings, newer buildings reflect more current sensabilities.
