The former Borough of East York consists of two sections. North of the Don Valley is Leaside. To the south is an area known as just East York.

In the southern part of the former Borough of East York, most people live in small bungalows. O'Connor Drive is the major east-west thoroughfare across the northern part of this area, providing a faster alternative to the busier Danforth.
