Big Nickel June, 2001. Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Normally, Sudbury's Big Nickel stands tall overlooking the Big Nickel Mine. But, when the mine (a tourist attraction) closed temporarily for renovations, the Big Nickel was taken down for its own refurbishment and then placed on the lawn beside Science North. When the Big Nickel Mine reopens in a couple of years, the Big Nickel will be returned to its normal prominent position.
