Canada Goose in Flight

CanadaGoose.jpeg

May 2002, Whitby, Ontario, Canada.

The Canada Goose (Branta Canadensis) is very common in Southern Ontario, and can be found nesting in many areas, even within the city of Toronto. At my previous work location in Don Mills, a pair of geese even built a nest in the middle of the parking lot. My current work location is along the Rouge River in Markham, and the geese are even more prevalent.

I encountered this goose while walking in the Lynde Shores Conservation Area in Whitby. I saw it walking on the path ahead of me, and it clearly was hesitant to let me pass. It only flew away as I got within a few meters of it.
