Burg Eltz

photo

June 1992, Burg Eltz, Germany

Burg Eltz, near the Mosel, is one of very few castles that have survived undamaged after the Thirty Years War. The reason this castle survived that war was that of the two families living in the castle, one family was Catholic and the other Protestant.

Most castles in Germany are at the top of hills. But to reach Burg Eltz, you go downhill!
