New City Hall

photo

June 1991, Munich, Germany

The Marienplatz is dominated by the Neo-Gothic new city hall on the north side of the square. In front of the new city hall is the Mariensäule, which was erected in 1638 by the Prince-Elector Maximillian. In the distance you can see the twin towers of the Frauenkirche, one of the more popular symbols of the city.
