Pfalz

D-Pfalz.jpeg

June 1992, Kaub, Germany

The Pfalz is one of the more unusual castles along the Rhine. It once served as a toll gate along the river. Boat captains who could not pay the toll faced imprisonment in the castle.

You can visit the Pfalz by taking a boat that leaves hourly from Kaub on the east bank of the Rhine.
