Ettal June 1989, Ettal, Germany The monastery at Ettal was first established by Emperor Ludwig in 1330. The facade and chancel were designed by Baroque architect Enrico Zucalli and built from 1710 to 1726. The dome, designed by Joseph Schmuzer, was added after a devastating fire in 1774.
