Centennial Rouge United Church![]() Toronto, Ontario, Canada. January 2008. Centennial Rouge United on Old Kingston Road. Methodism dates back into the 18th century, founded largely by John Wesley. But after his death in 1791, several groups seceded and formed other societies. In 1891, the modest Wesleyan and Bible Christian congregations of Highland Creek merged and built a new church building. To commemorate the centennial of the death of John Wesley, the new church was named the Centennial Methodist Church. In 1925, the congregation joined the United Church.
