Churches in Ontario All Saints Church

Martyrs' Shrine, Midland

Midland-Martyrs-Shrine.jpeg

Martyrs' Shrine in Midland is a popular pilgrimage church. It was built in 1926 to commemorate the work of the Jesuit missionaries in the 17th century. In 1639, a group of missionaries established the first European outpost west of the St. Lawrence valley, but was abandoned in 1649. You can find a reconstruction of that first colony, Ste Marie among the Hurons across the road from the church.
