Trout Lilies
Toronto, Canada. May 11, 2003.
A small patch of Trout Lilies (Erythronium americanum, in
the Lily family) in Guildwood Park, a plant common in these woods and
others in Southern Ontario.
A Trout Lily plant consists of two mottled leaves and a single stalk
holding a single small flower with three yellow petals and three
brownish-yellow sepals.
This wildflower is also known as Dogtooth Violet, but the plant is
not a violet.
Other wildflower pictures can be found at
Trilliums.
