Capitol Washington DC, USA. September 1985. The Capitol building is the seat of US government, and sits on a site chosen by George Washington, first president of the US. Construction began in 1793. The building was burned during the War of 1812. The original design was completed in 1830, but additional wings and the dome were added 1851-1865. The photo shows the side facing to the east.
