Washington DC, USA. September 1985.

Protests in Lafayette Square, across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House, during the Reagan regime. Protest slogans at the time included:

• GROUND ZERO
• SEEK PEACE AND PURSUE IT
• PEACE, NOT FIRST USE
• IF GENOCIDAL WEAPONS ARE PEACEMAKERS, THEN ADOLF HITLER WAS A SAINT
• THERE ARE NO ROADS LEADING TO PEACE, PEACE IS THE ROAD
• PHYSICAL DEATH I DON'T FEAR. DEATH OF CONSCIENCE IS SURE DEATH
• GOD'S CREATURES FOR PEACE

The messages were poignant at the time. Now, with American troops again dying for an uncertain cause in another foreign land, peace protests are even more relevant now.
