Washington DC, USA. September 1985.

It's hard to imagine a more fitting war memorial. The names of all American soldiers who died or were missing in action are carved in two walls of polished granite. One points to the Washington Monument, the other points to the Lincoln Memorial. For those of us who did not lose any relatives in the war, it's still tempting to look for fallen soldiers with our surname. The one Boldt listed on the wall is Charles D Boldt of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, a short distance north of Rochester, Minnesota.
