Bay & Wellesley
View towards buildings at Wellesley Street West and Bay Street.
As you go north up Bay Street at Wellesley, the office, hotel and condominium buildings get higher and higher along a relatively boring streetscape. The south-east corner was originally intended for a new, lavish opera house. But it was just too expensive for the government, and the project was shelved. Now, new condominium towers are rising on the site. (A new, more modest opera house is now being built, across the street from Osgoode Hall.)

St. Michael's College is the eastern-most part of the University of Toronto campus. It is a pleasant oasis within the chaos of the city.
