East York Civic Centre.
Even after all the other boroughs of Metropolitan Toronto declared themselves cities, East York remained a borough even until amalgamation. The borough was divided physically by the Don Valley into two parts: Leaside to the north, and East York, lying just north of Danforth Avenue.

At Coxwell Avenue and Mortimer Avenue is the municipal office building of the former Borough of East York. Across the street is the Toronto East General Hospital.
