Entrance to the festival.
Every September (on the last Sunday of the month), a festival takes place in Toronto devoted to the printed word. In previous years, the “The Word On The Street” festival took place on Queen Street West. But although they closed down the whole street from Spadina Avenue to Duncan Street, that venue became too crowded. And so, in 2004, they moved the festival to Queen’s Park. The Streets closed were both sides of Queen’s Park Crescent north of Wellesley Street, up to Queen’s Park and Charles Street.
(Since then, I believe they’ve moved to a different location.)
Booths in the park.
The 2004 festival was better than ever, and was definitely improved by the new setting. Although Queen Street West has that artistic cachet, the park certainly enhanced the atmosphere of the festival.
